Obituary for John (Jack) Russell Adamson

Jack was born Oct. 25, 1927 to Nell and Russ Adamson in Hamilton, Into. He and Mary (deceased) raised their 5 children, Pat (Glen) Tichbourne, Lynne Adamson, Dale Kardas (Ray - deceased), Dave (Kim) Adamson and Lee (Rachelle) Adamson, in Stoney Creek, Ont. where he spent the rest of his life, the last 30 years with his partner, Joana Turnbull.

Most will remember Jack for his inventiveness and creativity, his great sense of humour and artistic flair.
As a father, he always made sure there was food on the table, a warm and safe home and instilled a strong work ethic in all of us. He truly was a Jack of all trades and never hesitated to help when asked.

Our home was always overflowing with family and friends, card games and laughter, pool parties and good times. He was a regular face at the Day-Nite and made many friends there over the years. No one could ever forget his beautiful baritone voice while he belted out Ring of Fire or Ahab the Arab on karaoke night. And, his skill to whistle a tune was just incredible to hear .

Jack's legacy includes 10 grandchildren, Brad (Christine), Jeff (Maria), Angela (James), Daniel, Becky (James), Vicki (Rob), Zoe, Nick, Rikki and Brody, as well as 6 great grandchildren, Owen, Julia, kara, Emma, Violet and Nora.

Jack passed away peacefully in his 95th year on Sun. Aug. 14th after a valiant battle with cancer. Many thanks to Community Care, nurse Anne, and especially Dr. Michael Savaterri for the kindness and care which allowed him to stay in his home for as long as possible, as he wished, doing it his way. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.

Please feel free to send your "Jack" memories as we're sure there are many we have forgotten or haven't heard. Then, raise a glass as he sails off to his next adventure.

Cheers, Captain Jack!
