Dorothy “Dody” Jean Evans
Surrounded by loved ones, Dody passed away on December 29th, 2021 at the age of 61 after a long & courageous battle with dementia. Loving wife to Terry, proud mother of James (Rachel Weeden), Miles & Michael Owen. Very proud grandmother to Mackenzie Skye O’Connell. Dear sister to Peter, Cathy Rowan, Nancy (Brian Merrill), Carolyn (Vic Pongetti), sister-in-law Judy, twin brother Les (Lisa Mullen), and daughter-in-law to Jim & Sheila Branagh. Predeceased by her brothers Johnny, David, and parents John & Carol Evans.
A pillar of the community, Dody ran the American House in Waterdown for 25 years, and later opened “Dody’s Oyster Bar & Grill.” Dody will be greatly missed by her countless devoted friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, & nearly everyone she met. An avid reader, a lover of music & sports, she was a deeply compassionate person who always put the needs of others before her own.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their incredible love & care throughout Dody’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the St. Joseph’s Villa Foundation. A celebration of life will be held at a future date when it is safe to do so. Hats will be mandatory.
